Actively and efficiently reduce key signs of ageing with this innovative, minimally-invasive treatment – with visible results after just one session.
Also known as micro-needling or medical needling, Collagen Induction Therapy is a non-surgical rejuvenating treatment which uses micro-needling to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin deep within the skin resulting in lifted, tighter and brighter skin with a more youthful appearance.
Working in harmony with the skin’s natural renewal processes, Collagen Induction Therapy supports enhanced collagen and elastin production as well as improved skin cell turnover for a bright, beautiful and glowing complexion.
Using a medical-grade dermal pen, microscopic tears are made in the dermis which encourage the creation of a stronger, healthier collagen and elastin network beneath the skin and enhanced skin cell renewal. Working together, these essential building blocks of skin health improve the texture, appearance and health of your skin.
Collagen levels naturally deplete as we age, starting at the age of 25. By age 30, we are losing around 1% of our natural collagen per year, which begins to show on the skin as sagging and fine lines and wrinkles. Collagen Induction Therapy actively restores collagen levels naturally, resulting in supple, smooth skin with a more youthful appearance.
Collagen Induction Therapy has a variety of incredible benefits for skin health, ranging from minimising pores and fading scars to combatting the signs of sun damage. It may be a good option for you if you are noticing or concerned about:
Only one treatment per month can be administered and it may take up to 6 treatments depending on how severe the skin has been damaged.
Collagen induction Therapy is incredibly versatile and suitable for all skin types and ages. Benefits include:
All therapies at Elizabeth Tetlow are tailored to your specific needs – so we start every treatment with a thorough consultation to learn more about you and your unique requirements. At this stage we’ll discuss your concerns and what you are hoping to achieve – during the consultation we will be able to discuss your treatment options and decide whether Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is the best treatment for you.
Following this, you’ll be given an appointment and some information on the treatment itself, as well as some pre-treatment and aftercare advice to prepare you.
We recommend numbing the area to be treated 1 hour before treatment – we will discuss this in your consultation.
To begin the treatment itself, a topical anaesthetic cream is initially applied to the treatment area to numb your skin. Once the anaesthetic has taken effect, the treatment will commence. During treatment, thousands of tiny micro-needles puncture the skin triggering a natural healing response that will ultimately tighten and improve the skin’s appearance.
As the needles are incredibly small there is some slight discomfort to be expected during treatment – however it is tolerable and will pass very quickly.
You can go straight back to work or continue your day post-treatment, so there is no physical downtime – but we do recommend that you refrain from wearing make-up and avoid the gym, sauna, swimming pool, steam room and sun exposure for at least 24 hours following treatment. High factor sun protection is also recommended generally but especially during the hours and days after Collagen Induction Therapy treatment.
During your treatment you may feel a mild, prickling sensation on the skin. Skin is often pink or red following treatment and may feel warm or flushed, tight and itchy (a little like sunburn) – this usually subsides within 12-24 hours post-treatment. Flaking, scaling or scabbing are uncommon side-effects – but if you do experience any concerns after your treatment, we’ll be on hand to help.
